Candace Thornton Spann, MD is a board-certified dermatologist and co-owner of Couture Dermatology & Plastic Surgery in Las Vegas, which she runs alongside her husband, plastic surgeon Marvin Spann, MD. She earned her medical degree from Meharry Medical College and completed her residency and fellowship at Columbia University's St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital Center.
Dr. Spann specializes in women's hair loss, the prevention and treatment of skin cancers, and a broad range of skin disorders, offering both dermatologic surgery and skin rejuvenation. Her practice emphasizes custom-tailored treatment for all ethnicities, ages, and skin types.
Dr. Spann breaks down how ethnicity and hair-care practices shape hair health, and shares a patient case where digging into the root cause of hair loss uncovered a separate underlying health issue.
"The greatest reward of doing this kind of work with hair restoration is the patients who initially were teary and kind of hopeless coming in, and I hear it all the time, you gave me my confidence back. I hear from husbands, you gave me my wife back. It's not that I'm performing open heart surgery and saving people with organ transplants, but I think that what I do is important because if I can restore the humanity... that's invaluable to me."
