Angela D. Mazza, DO

Founder, Metabolic Center for Wellness

Angela D. Mazza, DO is a triple board-certified endocrinologist specializing in thyroid disorders and integrative endocrinology. She founded the Metabolic Center for Wellness in Oviedo, Florida — the only center in Central Florida offering radiofrequency ablation for thyroid nodules — where she helps patients achieve metabolic and hormonal balance through an individualized, root-cause approach.

Dr. Mazza is the author of Thyroid Talk: An Integrative Guide to Thyroid Health and hosts the podcast of the same name. She frequently speaks on the connection between chronic stress, cortisol, and long-term metabolic health, and has served as principal investigator on multiple diabetes therapy and device trials.

Dr. Mazza connects perimenopause and thyroid imbalance to metabolic health, and walks through her multi-year work with patient Patty, who struggled with Hashimoto's thyroiditis that had left her unable to lose weight.

"Weight loss and body composition are two different things. People may be driven by numbers on a scale, and they may lose weight, but that does not equate to metabolic health. You don't want to be losing weight and losing muscle, because when you lose muscle, you're losing your metabolic reserve. So weight loss has to be more focused on body composition — we just want a healthy weight and healthy metabolic state."
